Who are eligible to apply:

Ambassadors/Diplomats/Consular Officers & officers of equivalent status/other Embassy officials, their spouses and their dependent family members who wants to go to Bangladesh for the purpose of official job/duty (and accompanying/joining principal), they are eligible to apply for Diplomatic/Official visa. Employment in Bangladesh paid or unpaid is prohibited for "A1" or "FA3" visa holder.

Original Note Verbal / Official Letter from the concern Ministry / Office / Organization in the USA mentioning the applicant’s position, passport number, duration of stay, purpose of visit in Bangladesh and the date of joining in the concern Embassy / Office / Organization in Bangladesh. Any direct communication from Dhaka will not be accepted, which must come via Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka.

If the applicant is a defense personnel must submit an additional form.

Duration of visa:

A Diplomatic/Official "D" or "A" or "A1" Visa may be issued for single/double/multiple entries. Duration of stay in this category of visa is as required in each visit.

Extension of visa:

Extension up to as required could be obtained from Department of Immigration and Passport (DIP), Dhaka via the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangladesh.
