Applying for No Visa Required (NVR)

Bangladesh origin foreign citizens (except SAARC countries) are eligible for endorsement of “NVR (No Visa Required) to Travel to Bangladesh" in their foreign passports. Their (foreign born) spouse and children are also eligible for this endorsement, which allows the holder multiple entries into Bangladesh with unlimited duration of stay within the validity of the passport. Citizens other than the USA must submit the proof of residence in USA (Resident Permit / Work-Permit / Valid Visa etc.).

Validity of NVR: The ‘No Visa Required for Travel to Bangladesh’ endorsement is valid as long as the passport remains valid on which it is affixed. The person can enter Bangladesh as many times he/she wishes and can stay there without any time restriction within the validity of the passport..

Applicants must fill-out online application form (mandatory) at www.visa.gov.bd

Applicants are required to submit the following documents for No Visa Required (NVR) Endorsement:

Fees: Please pay $50.00 (Fifty US Dollar) to the “Consulate General of Bangladesh in Los Angeles’’ in the format of Money Order/Cashier Check/Official Check only. Cash/Personal Check/Credit Card not to be accepted.

NO REFUNDS: Fees, once received, cannot be refunded, even if the application is withdrawn or service cannot be rendered.

PLEASE NOTE : after scrutiny of documents, the Consulate may request for an in-person interview and/or submission of additional documents. Issuance of NVR may be delayed if reference has to be made to Bangladesh for clearance for further Administrative Processing.

The Consulate may accept or reject any application for NVR.

Applicants must provide their email address on the application form to get updates of the applications;

Bangladeshi American:

1.  Printed copy of duly filled-in Online Visa application form at www.visa.gov.bd  (automatically created pdf file with bar code on page-4) 

2.  Two passport-size color photograph with white background taken within the last six months (attach with glue on the box of top-left corner of the form);

3.  Original US passport (valid at least for six months) with photocopy of the same (Photo and information page);

4.  Copy of the photo and information page of Bangladesh old/valid Machine Readable Passport OR 1-5 page of Bangladesh old handwritten passport OR copy of Bangladesh digital Birth Registration Certificate (with 17-digit number) OR copy of Dual National Certificate OR         copy of National ID card of Bangladesh and copy of previous NVR along with the information and photo page of that passport which contained the previous NVR;

5.  Copy of court order in case of a name change.

Children (born in USA/not in Bangladesh) of Bangladeshi/Bangladeshi American:

1.  Printed copy of duly filled-in Online Visa application form at www.visa.gov.bd (automatically created pdf file with bar code on page-4) 

2.  Two passport-size color photograph with white background taken within the last six months (attach with glue on the box of top-left corner of the form);

3.  Original US passport (valid at least for six months) with photocopy of the same (Photo page);

4.  Copy of US Birth Certificate showing parents name;

5.  Copy of Bangladesh passport of Father OR Mother (first five page);

6.  Notarized affidavit/declaration by both  father and mother stating that he/she is their biological son/daughter( Find below Attached Affidavit )

7.  Copy of court order in case of a name change.

Foreign Spouse of Bangladeshi/Bangladeshi American:

1.  Printed copy of duly filled-in Online Visa application form at www.visa.gov.bd (automatically created pdf file with bar code on page-4) 

2.  Two passport-size color photograph with white background taken within the last six months (attach with glue on the box of top-left corner of the form);

3.  Original US passport (valid at least for six months) with a photocopy of the same (Photo and information page);

4.  Copy of husband's/wife's valid or expired Bangladesh passport (page 1-5) OR Copy of Dual Nationality Certificate OR copy of National ID card of Bangladesh;

5.  Copy of Marriage Certificate;

6.  Notarized affidavit/ declaration by wife/husband stating that their marriage is not broken.

7.  Copy of court order in case of a name change.

Service by Mail: Applicants may send their application by mail. If so, the applicant must provide a self-addressed return envelope (prepaid/with appropriate postage stamps) and tracking number of Priority/Express Mail of USPS only. Return envelope of FedEx is not accepted as it charges the Embassy, rather than the applicant for overweight of the return mail (or for any other reasons). Applicants belonging to same mailing address can send their applications together in one envelope and enclose one return envelope.

Any incomplete application received by mail will be returned to the applicant without query.

The usual expected processing time for an NVR is 10 working days. The processing time may vary on case by case issues.

Walk-in applicants are received at the front desk between 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Monday to Friday, except holidays. Delivery time of documents are from 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm.

Wearing a mask is mandatory for all kinds of service seekers during walk-in hours at the Consulate.
